Earth Hour & Spider-Man Join Forces to Save the Planet

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement for the planet organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held worldwide encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol of their commitment to the planet. This year’s Earth Hour takes place Saturday, March 29, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. during each participants’ local time.

This year Spider-Man is the official Superhero Ambassador of Earth Hour. A Superhero feat in itself, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the most eco-friendly blockbuster in the history of Columbia Pictures. Environmental efforts on set and support for WWF China’s Earth Hour Blue project make the entire production carbon neutral.

On top of that, the stars and director of Spider-Man 2 – Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and Marc Webb are pledging to support one Earth Hour Blue crowdfunding project each.

Visit the Spider-Man Earth Hour Hub for more info on how you an support projects like ‘A Flame called Hope‘, ‘Puppy Protectors‘, ‘Light Up a Village‘, ‘Power Up a Ranger‘ and many more great causes.

Here’s Emma Stone talking about the project she is supporting, Puppy Protectors. This project trains puppies to track animals, find wildlife crime scenes, detect illegal trade items, and chase down poachers with rangers on the frontlines of Chitwan National Park, Nepal.
