That was a great interview! Ricky Gervais, who I think is hilarious, probably appreciated the ribbing he got from Garry. It was cringe comedy at its finest. Ricky Gervais is usually offensive to everyone in his stand-up and hosting material so it was really funny watching Garry put him on the spot with those extremely awkward questions and fake outrage over the smallest offense of Ricky’s. Also, when Garry is pouring himself some tea or coffee (I only watched the highlights) and talking to Ricky about tragedy being the source of comedy, I thought that was an extremely well-put and thought provoking dialogue. Plus it was also cringe-hilarious how Garry didn’t even ask Ricky if he would like a cup. Altogether though, I think it may have not been the interview that Ricky wanted or thought he would get, but it actually was something more than that. A true look at the inner-workings of what is funny, and in the end, (if I’m not mistaken judging from his interview with Larry David) that was Ricky’s whole point of the show.

All you bitch moaners seem to forget that without Garry there would be no Ricky. Respect and treating the guest as an adult, not Karl Pilkington, would have been a wiser avenue for Gervais to take, instead he did his usual ADHD, one trick pony thing and came unstuck. Just like that Talking Funny special, he really didn’t have any right being there.
RIP Shandling. A real comic & a real legend.
