But I Can't Do Anything Else! The Art of Rob Schrab

But I Cant Do Anything Else! The Art of Rob Schrab is a collection of concept sketches from Schrab’s many sci-fi, horror and animation projects in TV/Film that never saw the light of day.

Rob Schrab is a writer, director, producer and artist who created the comic series, Scud: The Disposable Assassin, and the badass short film, Robot Bastard!

He and long time writing partner, Dan Harmon, co-created Monster House, Heat Vision and Jack, The Sarah Silverman Program and Channel 101.

Schrab has also directed episodes of Childrens Hospital, Community and Parks and Recreation.

The man has an amazing resume, and, honestly, he’s kind of a personal hero of mine. His art book, But I Can’t Do Anything Else!, begins with some great advice for anyone with creative aspirations:

If you are a creative, waffling on the sidelines because you’re scared of rejection, knock it off. Better yet, look forward to it. Rejection is part of a professional artist’s life. Take comfort in the fact that success is governed by the law of averages: every time you fail, you’re one step closer to nailing it. So get to work, write a bunch of stories, sing a dozen songs and fill up some sketchbooks. What choice do you have?
