Community’s Gillian Jacobs, who was a guest along with Paul F. Tompkins on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast, was wearing an outfit that was described as “Royal Tenenbaums cosplay.” She does have a very Margot Tenenbaum thing going on there with the striped polo dress and sunglasses.

If you’re not already a fan, you need to watch Community and listen to Comedy Bang! Bang! They are two of the funniest shows out there.

Watch The Royal Tenenbaums too!

Mondo Battle Royale Print by Bryan Lee O’Malley and Kevin Tong

This print by Bryan Lee O’Malley and Kevin Tong comes as part of a promotion from Mondo and Tugg bringing the Japanese cult classic Battle Royale to theaters across the country.

TUGG AND MONDO ENTER INTO A “BATTLE ROYALE”
The On-Demand Theatrical Platform & Collectible Art Company Team Up to Bring the Cult Classic to Theaters with a Spectacular Poster

Austin, TX— February, 8, 2012—Tugg, Inc. (“Tugg”), a web-platform that enables individuals to choose the films that play in their local theaters and create their own events, and Mondo, the collectible art division of the Alamo Drathouse, team up to bring the cult classic Battle Royale to theaters along with a brand new print from artists Bryan Lee O’Malley and Kevin Tong.

Battle Royale, long available in the United States only as an import DVD, has been added to Tugg’s library for fans to create their own screenings at their local theater nationwide. Additionally, for those screenings that happen, Tugg promoters will be given a quantity of Mondo’s Battle Royale posters for themselves and to be given away to attendees at the events (while supplies last). Request a screening now here – http://www.tugg.com/titles/battle-royale.

This is the first collaboration between Mondo and famed comics artist Bryan Lee O’Malley. Working with artist Kevin Tong, O’Malley presents a perfect marriage of design and subject for the Battle Royale print with his distinct visual style from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

To celebrate the film and this incredible print, Mondo is hosting the first Tugg screening of Battle Royale as part of the opening weekend festivities at the Alamo Drafthouse Vintage Park in Houston, a brand new, state-of-the art theater. The screening will take place on February 16, and tickets must be purchased via Tugg here – http://www.tugg.com/events/3035.

The ticket price of $85 includes the cost of one variant poster (edition of 225). The regular edition will be sold via MondoTees.com at a future date and will be the version used for the limited quantity of posters at subsequent Tugg screenings.

Officially released in North America last year by Anchor Bay Entertainment, the four-disc BATTLE ROYALE: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION DVD and Blu-ray™ sets have drawn universal acclaim from both reviewers and fans of the modern cult classic.

Greedo, the Rodian bounty hunter shot by Han Solo, was played by two actors in Star Wars IV: Paul Blake and Maria De Aragon.

Paul Blake played Greedo in the shots that feature both Greedo and Han Solo in the same frame. For Greedo’s close-ups, a new articulated head was built for pickups at the end of the shoot, and Maria De Aragon was enlisted to play the Rodian.

Rad Poster for Rewind This! VHS Documentary

IPF Productions’ Rewind This! is “the definitive account of the home video revolution.”

Home video changed the way the world consumed films. The cultural and historical impact of the VHS tape was enormous. REWIND THIS! is a documentary that traces the ripples of that impact by examining the myriad aspects of art, technology, and societal perceptions that were altered by the creation of videotape.

The film is the first feature length effort from Austin, TX based IPF Productions, with shooting locations all over North America and abroad, including a two week stint in Japan. The team has spoken to filmmakers, studios, archivists, rental chain operators, personal collectors and media experts to create an overview of the video era that is both informative and celebratory. The film will premiere at SXSW Film Festival in Austin March 2013.

It features interviews with Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell), Frank Henenlotter (Basket Case, Frankenhooker), Shôko Nakahara (Tokyo Gore Police), Roy Frumkes (Street Trash), Charles Band (Puppetmaster), Jason Eisener (Hobo with a Shotgun), Cassandra Peterson (Elvira), Lloyd Kaufman (Troma) and many more.

The sheer amount of joy on Norman Fell’s face is a little disturbing.

Super Mario Busters by James Farr.

This is one of the best mashups I’ve ever seen. The animation is fantastic, lots of geeky references, and the characters and concepts from both properties are matched perfectly. A+
