The Empire Strikes Back was a ten-part radio adaptation of the original film, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. The radio drama first aired on National Public Radio in the United States on February 14, 1983.
It is the second series of the expanded radio dramatization of the original Star Wars trilogy, and lasts for a total of five hours. It was produced and broadcast by National Public Radio as part of NPR Playhouse as a follow-up to the success of the first radio series, Star Wars (1981).
Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), and Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) reprise their roles from the film.
Also, John Lithgow plays Yoda! Here he is talking about how he got the part:
Here’s a 1982 “behind the scenes” segment from Entertainment Tonight:
Knowing what a prolific voice actor Mark Hamill would eventually become, it’s great seeing how enthusiastic he was about it back then.
You can listen to the entire 5 hour radio drama right here via YouTube:
Jervis Crane is a master of mind control… He utilizes a fear toxin he created to first make his victims loose their minds all together, and then in their state of delusion he places them under his power using any one of his many mind-control inventions. Completely insane, he is a victim of his own devices.
This is Selina Isley. Both loved and hated by Batman. She is not only a scientific genius in botany, she is also an incredible thief.
Harvey Karlo played an unstoppable knightly lawyer on tv, but as an actor he was tied up in crooked business that helped his stardom. When relations with the mob were getting bad, he got into an “accident” which disfigured half his body, ruining his acting career. Desperate to regain his fame he turned to an untested cosmetic substance to try and rebuild his image, but only ended up becoming a monster. Not only did his body undergo a horrific change, his mind also became split. Half of him believed he was the heroic lawyer he played on tv, and the other half stayed as a revenge seeking victim. When the lawyer takes control, the clay half transforms and completes the other side of his face to perfection… but when the victim takes control, the clay expands and covers over the good side… showing a complete monster.
Sharp mind and strong body. Despite what you may think, it’s not the drugs that makes him like a crocodile… rather it helps him stay more “human”. The drug was developed to counter act the virus he has which is slowly transforming him. At the same time, his strength is dramatically increased as a side effect… not so bad of a side effect except that now he must rely on the drug or else suffer extreme weakness and further transformation into his cold-blooded like form.

A mashup of two Charm City icons, Edgar Allan Poe and Natty Boh. This is possibly the greatest Baltimore-themed Halloween costume ever.
