The great ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper passed away this week. He died in his sleep after a heart attack, at the age of 61. Piper is known as one of the greatest wrestling villains of all time, although I’d go further and say he is the single best wrestling heel ever. He also starred in numerous cult films and B-movies, most notably John Carpenter’s They Live.
Here’s a video tribute from the March 14, 1987 episode of WWF’s Saturday Night’s Main Event to Roddy Piper who was retiring from full-time wrestling. It’s set fittingly to Frank Sinatra’s My Way.
We’ll miss you Hot Rod.
